Oarswomen from Anémona Association and Benidorm Yacht Club participate in the traditional Descent of the River Oria

Las remeras de Anémona y el Club Náutico Benidorm participan en el tradicional Descenso del Oria

The women of Anémona Marina Baixa rowing team, the Self-Help Group for People Affected by Breast or Gynecological Cancer of Benidorm and the region, together with oarwomen from Benidorm Yacht Club, have travelled to the Basque Country to participate in this edition of the traditional Oria Descent regatta, which will be held this Saturday, February 10, in the Guipuzcoan municipality of Orio. The Descent of the Oria is one of the great national events in the world of rowing and one of the most important tests of the trawler preseason, in which some 80 boats and more than 1,100 rowers from different parts of Spain will participate.

The acting mayor, Ana Pellicer, came on Thursday night to say goodbye to the 35 people who were part of this expedition before their departure by bus towards Orio.

Also at this event was the Councilor for Equality, Ángela Zaragozí, who travelled to the town with the Benidorm delegation to share this experience with the Anémona and Yacht Club teams.

Today, they were received at San Sebastian City Council by the second deputy mayor and councillor for Economy and Ecology, Marisol Garmendia, as well as by the councillor for Social Services, Neighborhoods and Citizen Participation, María Jesús Idoeta. Both councillors have officially welcomed councillor Ángela Zaragozí to the city; to the president of Anémona, María Botella, and the rest of the representatives of the Benidorm expedition, in a meeting in which they were also accompanied by Edurne Iruin and Maria Aliana, social worker and psychologist from the Gipuzkoan Association to Support Affected Women of Breast and Gynecological Cancer, Katxalin, as well as by Ricardo Unzueta, vice president of the Spanish Rowing Federation, and José Mari de Diego, president of Kirolak Nautical Sports Society.

This reception has served to strengthen ties between both cities before starting the new challenge that Anémona and Benidorm Yacht Club teams will face tomorrow.
