New projects, plans and activities in the European Mobility Week
Benidorm City Council has already finalized the programming of the European Mobility Week, which is celebrated throughout the continent from this Friday, September 16, until the 22nd. The councillor of the area, José Ramón González de Zárate, has recalled that "the city already started the European Mobility Week last Thursday with Benimov Experience, which lasted throughout the weekend, thus anticipating the official dates of celebration". However, "coinciding with the official calendar, daily activities have been scheduled, each one focused on a specific theme or aspect of sustainable mobility".
Broadly speaking, "new projects, plans and actions will be presented with which we further strengthen Benidorm as a benchmark for sustainable urban mobility at a national and international level, combining them with activities designed directly for citizens".
The programming starts this Friday with "the presentation of all the details of the Low Emissions project for the entire city of Benidorm, for which we have a grant from the Ministry of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda". In addition, between 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m., citizens will be able to access the tecnohito in groups of 5 people, “the auction of an emblematic work, that of Mediterráneo Avenue, which marks the present and future of low emissions”.
On Saturday, at 08:30 am, the opening of the park-and-ride car park on Avenida de Cuba is scheduled to open, which has 500 spaces and in which a free shuttle bus service will be established. A car park that adds to the rest of those that are already operating in Levante and Poniente, exceeding 7,000 park-and-ride parking spaces in the city.
On Sunday 18, on the occasion of urban transport day, the two new electric buses that will operate in the city in the near future will be presented.
In addition, between 10:00 and 14:00, the journey will be free for passengers who board the line 3 bus at the town hall stop.
On the 19th, the El Moralet Forest Management Technical Plan is scheduled to be presented; while on Tuesday it will be the turn of the Benidorm Electric Mobility Plan, a document with which "Benidorm goes one step further and positions itself among the leading municipalities". On Wednesday, the activity will focus on pedestrian accessibility and more specifically on safe school itineraries and routes that have been configured in the city. The European Mobility Week will close on Thursday 22nd with a meeting and participatory activity with the neighbours on the Spanish Navy's low-emissions project that "will start immediately".
