The new document eliminates the three existing commissions, which are grouped into a new one: the Participation Commission

The Neighborhood Council approves by a large majority the Self-Regulation of the Participatory Budget 2026

03 April 2025
El Consejo Vecinal aprueba por amplia mayoría el Autorreglamento del Presupuesto Participativo 2026

The Neighborhood Council approved the Self-Regulations for the Participatory Budget for the 2026 fiscal year today during a session held in the Municipal Plenary Hall. The new document was approved with 14 votes in favour, one abstention, and no votes against.

The meeting was chaired by the Mayor of Benidorm and President of the Council, Toni Pérez; the Councilor for Citizen Participation, Ana Pellicer; and the first and second vice presidents of the body, Antonio Zamora and Francisco Martínez.

This Self-regulation has undergone some changes compared to the previous document, which was rejected at the last Neighborhood Council meeting. Thus, the main change introduced is the elimination of the Joint Committee, the Evaluation Committee, and the Monitoring Committee, and the creation of a new committee that will encompass all three and be called the Participation Committee.

Likewise, the new Self-Regulation also includes an extension of the deadline for submitting proposals electronically to increase neighbourhood participation. Finally, it also includes the elimination of a quarterly committee, so that from now on, a new Participatory Budget Committee will be created every year, open to all Neighborhood Council members who wish to join.
