Nearly 500 people have participated this morning in the III Cross Country Solidarity Cross for the benefit of Doble Amor, which has been held on the trails of the new El Moralet Park and has been organized by the social entity with the collaboration of the Department of Sports and the Benidorm Athletics Club. A test that has been developed in different modalities, to favor maximum participation began at 09:30 am with the departure of the hiking and Nordic walking. The mayor, Toni Pérez, has been in charge of giving the start of the test.
Thirty minutes later it was the cross riders who took the start, covering a total distance of 8 kilometers. Luis Escandell Gómez and Hanan Et Tabaa were the first to cross the finish line in the Absolute Men's and Absolute Women's categories with a time of 29:52 and 33:43 respectively. Víctor Pérez Sánchez and Ángel López Amor completed the men's podium; while Gemma Ann Selby and Pilar Rodríguez Sedeño achieved a second and third place among women.
In the Local Men's category, the best time was for José Vicente Prieto Rodrigo, followed by Carlos Menchén Sánchez and Juanlu Mayor Úbeda. Among the local runners, the first three places have been for Gemma Ann Selby, Lucía del Mar Pérez Pérez, and Mª Carmen Folch Antón.
The councilor of Sports, Mariló Cebreros, has been in charge of delivering the prizes of the III Solidarity Cross, which has resulted in 204 runners. In addition, there have been about 130 participants in the hiking and Nordic walking modalities; and 22 people who have decided to take the tour with their pets.
Once the Cross and the march for adults were over, the children's races were held, with more than 130 participants.
The mayor recalled that "in addition to being able to enjoy outdoor physical activity in magnificent surroundings such as the new El Moralet Park, the people who have participated in this initiative have collaborated with a social entity that is very dear to Benidorm and that plays a fundamental role in promoting the integration of people with functional diversity”. Thus, the full amount of the inscriptions -10.50 euros per participant- has been allocated to Double Love and will contribute to the maintenance of the occupational center.
