The City Council reminds residents that appointments can be made for the collection of furniture and household items by calling 965855184
More than 55% of Benidorm’s household items are put out on the street without arranging the free collection service
The municipal bylaw provides for fines of up to 600 euros for those who leave belongings on public roads without notifying the cleaning services.
More than 55% of the bulky items collected from the streets of Benidorm have ended up on public roads without the free collection service offered by the City Council having been scheduled. This is confirmed by data from the street cleaning concessionaire, Fomento de Construcciones y Contratas (FCC), which is responsible for providing and managing this free collection service, as the councillor for the department, Luis Navarro, pointed out.
Navarro stated that to date, just over 9,600 collection services have been carried out without prior appointment, "once the cleaning services detected the presence of bulky items, furniture, appliances, etc., on public roads, or after being notified by residents."
This figure represents 55% of the bulky waste removal interventions carried out in a single year, although the percentage is likely higher, since items found by chance are removed by the team that locates them and not always by the team responsible for providing this service. This circumstance may mean that not all data is uploaded to the service's app and, consequently, some of these collections are left out of the overall count.
Scheduling this service is very simple. You only need to make an appointment with FCC by calling 965 855 184, and the staff will inform each user of the day and time slot in which they can leave their bulky waste on the street. The service can be arranged Monday through Friday, from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., by calling 965 85 51 84.
The Councillor for Street Cleaning has asked for “responsibility” when “putting these items out on the street” and has invited residents to “make use of this free service offered by Benidorm so that our city is cleaner and more sustainable.”
He also reminded residents that the municipal ordinance includes fines of up to €600 for those who leave furniture and household items on the street without having made a prior appointment with the company that manages the service.
