More than 300 participants in the XXXV edition of the Bicycle Day to encourage the use of the bike lane
The XXXV edition of the Day of the Bicycle has gathered this morning Foietes Park more than 300 participants. This event, which has a festive and awareness character, aims to promote the use of the bicycle lane in Benidorm and the bicycle as a means of transport much more sustainable than the car.
The mayor of Benidorm, Toni Pérez; the councilman of Deportes, Arturo Cabrillo; and the councilors Lourdes Caselles and Bernardo Mira participated in the tour, which has had the support of Mesa Benidorm Pro-Bicicleta, as well as the support of the city's cycling clubs and numerous sponsors.
The route this time has left from Foietes Park to Avenida Jaime I, and then through the streets Alfonso Puchades, Doctor Orts Llorca, Avenida del Mediterráneo, Paseo de Levante, Paseo de Poniente and return by Avenida Vicente Pérez Devesa to Foietes Park.
At the end of the tour, and after the corresponding refreshment, we proceeded to the raffle of gifts among the participants, with a total of 11 bicycles and numerous prizes of sports equipment and excursions donated by the sponsors of the event.
Benidorm already has more than 40 km of bike lanes, which will soon be more than 80 km when the works are completed to finish the so-called 'bicycle ring of Benidorm'.
