The 'Residents' Zone' already reaches 3,000 parking spaces in different neighborhoods of Benidorm

Mobility implements more than 250 parking spaces for residents in Ensanche de Levante

09 May 2019
Movilidad implanta más de 250 plazas de aparcamiento para residentes en el Ensanche de Levante

The Department of Mobility will implement in the coming weeks more than 250 parking spaces for residents in the area of  Ensanche de Levante, as reported today by the mayor of the area, José Ramón González de Zárate. The parking spaces that are going to be converted into exclusive parking for registered residents integrated into the 'Residents' Zone' are located in the streets: Invierno, Fluixá, Juan Llorca, Esperanto - in the stretch between Orts Llorca and Europa - and Europ - between Esperanto and Kennedy, these places will start to function as a 'Resident Zone' throughout the month of May.

The mayor explained that this area, Ensanche de Levante, "was a very busy area for workers from outside Benidorm from early morning and also by car rental companies that permanently park their cars in these streets." Hence, "the neighbors have claimed to have resident places."

De Zárate has indicated that "with these new places the 'Residents' Zone' already reaches 3,000 parking spaces in different parts of the city: Colonia Madrid, Centro, La Cala, Rincón de Loix and, now, the Ensanche de Levante". He also pointed out that, based on the data transferred by the Local Police, the 'Resident Zone' is being met with its objective, since "in the streets where it is located there are parking spaces available 24 hours a day. day for the neighbors ", while" the non-residents, after the initial inconveniences, are getting used to parking their vehicles in the park-and-ride parking facilities, which have increased their occupancy by 30% ".

The mayor recalled that the 'Resident Zone' is "a pilot project that is giving very positive results" and that "will be extended" to other streets. In addition, has said that "when implementing parking spaces for residents, municipal technicians take into account that there are other parking modes in the area." Thus, in the streets surrounding the new 'Resident Zone' there is also "free parking for all drivers like the parking of Italia street, the public parking of l'Aigüera and blue zone" .

Since last March 1 have been processed about 13,500 parking stickers for residents; and the number of registered voters has increased by "more than 1,500 people".

To be able to park in the 'Resident Zone' it is necessary to obtain the specific adhesive card, which must be placed on the windshield. To access this card you only have to be registered in Benidorm, be the owner of a small van or van and pay the vehicle tax in the city. They can also park in 'Residents' Zone' in the same conditions the vehicles of the companies that have their fiscal domicile in Benidorm and that pay in the city the circulation tax (IVTM) of the same.

Throughout the month of May, the administrative extension of Colonia Madrid, located on Avenida Beniardá 17, will remain open with extended hours to process the parking card for residents. Thus, from Monday to Friday, this procedure can be carried out from 09:00 to 13:00 and from 17:00 to 20:00, and on Saturdays from 09:00 to 14:00.
