Mobility extends until January 15 the deadline to ask permission to circulate along Armada Española Avenue

25 October 2016
Movilidad amplía hasta el 15 de enero el plazo para pedir el permiso de circular por Armada Española

Zárate remembers from that day circulation will be restricted. Residents, urban transport, emergency vehicles, and loading and unloading services shall be entitled to permits

The department of Movility has extended to January 15 the period to require drivers municipal approvals for driving on Armada Española Avenue which is in process of turning into a pederstrain road, and that since last April is has restricted access in the section between Nicaragua and Xixo avenues. The area councilor, José Ramón González de Zárate, appeared at a press conference to explain the details of this restriction of access and to clarify "the wrong information" circulating on social networks about it. Zárate remarked that "all residents residing from James I Avenue to the municipality of Finestrat are entitled to access and drive their vehicles along this stretch of the Armada Española Avenue, if they ask for authorization". Once authorized, they must circulate "in coexistence with pedestrians and at maximum speeds of up to 20 kilometers per hour." But besides having the right to access users with garages and people having their workplace in the restricted zone, also "the tasks of loading and unloading, works and installations will be authorized, as well as services, taxis, celebrations and events, people with disabilities, and access to care for elderly and / or dependents ". They may also access customers of shops and tourist establishments, although those responsible for these businesses "must justify" the access of these vehicles, "as it is done in the Old Town" . Zárate explained that from January 15 this restriction of access shall be controlled with "cameras" and that drivers traveling along the avenue without authorization will have several weeks of time to justify it before it becomes effective the corresponding fine. The council argued that the City Council will give maximum facilities to citizens. He also pointed out that the fact of making this avenue in a pedestrian road, claimed by the Neighborhood Council and entrepreneurs, seeks to revitalize the first line of Poniente and improve pedestrian mobility.
