Minute of silence in Benidorm to repudiate sexist violence after the murder of a woman in Granada

17 August 2018
Minuto de silencio en Benidorm para repudiar la violencia machista tras el asesinato de una mujer en Granada

Benidorm has held a minute of silence at the doors of the City Hall in memory of the latest victim of sexist violence in Spain, murdered in the town of Dúrcal Granada. The councillor of Equality, Paquita Ripoll, have joined representatives of different municipal political groups to show their rejection of this social scourge.

Last Tuesday at dawn, a 38-year-old man, of Moroccan nationality, was arrested after leaving at the door of the hospital his partner, a 21-year-old Spanish woman, who had stabbed him to death. . The couple had a small son who has been orphaned by a mother.

With this victim are already 25 women who have lost their lives so far in 2018 because of macho violence in Spain, while raising the number of minors who have been orphaned to 15. From the Department of Equality has been remembered, once again, the importance of reporting any evidence of sexist violence through the telephone number 016, toll-free telephone number against gender violence that leaves no trace on the telephone bill.
