Minute of silence in Benidorm in protest of the murder of a woman in Gran Canaria

03 July 2017
Minuto de silencio en Benidorm en protesta por el asesinato de una mujer en Gran Canaria

Benidorm City Hall has observed a minute of silence on Monday to condemn the latest case of gender violence in Spain, specifically in the town of Puerto Rico in the municipality of Mogan in Gran Canaria, where a 47-year-old British woman was killed, supposedly by her partner, an old man of 88, of the same nationality.

With the mayor, Toni Pérez, and the Equality councilor, Paquita Ripoll, at the head, along with other members of the corporation, officials and neighbors, the city of Benidorm has once again symbolically expressed its firm rejection of macho aggressions So far this year, gender violence has officially ended with the lives of 31 women in Spain, 3 of them in the Region of Valencia.
