Minute of silence Benidorm to condemn a new case of macho violence in Barcelona
Benidorm again expresses its rejection of male violence with a minute of silence this morning at the door of the City Hall and in which the mayor of Benidorm, Toni Pérez, along with the councillor of Equality, Paquita Ripoll, has participated. as well as several councilors of the different groups of the corporation, neighbors and municipal workers and the subdelegate of Defense of Alicante, the Colonel of Infantry Juan Bosco Moreno Prado, and several members of different bodies and state security forces.
On this occasion, a minute of silence was observed in memory of the 71-year-old woman murdered by her husband on Saturday 15 in Barcelona, a case that today has been confirmed as gender-based violence. The man, 81, assaulted his wife with a baseball bat to kill her and then committed suicide by ingesting an overdose of drugs.
In the current year 2018 there are already 34 women who have lost their lives in our country because of gender violence and 19 children who have been orphaned. The department of Equality reminds citizens that, before any suspicion of sexist violence, you can go to the toll-free telephone number 016, a number that is not reflected in the telephone bill but it should be deleted later from the call register of the mobile phone.
