Benidorm will create an incentive parking of more than 100 places next to the school centers of Els Tolls

Benidorm City Council is going to create a free parking, an incentive parking for a little more than a hundred places next to the Els Tolls and Puig Campana public schools and Les Fontanelles children's school, which will "make the students' access more secure" to these three schools, while decongesting traffic in the area in the peak hours of entry and exit of students.

This has been explained today by the mayor and responsible for the area of ​​Education, Toni Pérez; that has moved to the future parking area with the councilors of Mobility and Street Clean, José Ramón González de Zárate and Arturo Cabrillo, to know the details of this action. A visit in which the Directorate of the Els Tolls and Puig Campana schools has also participated and which is part of the European Mobility Week.

Specifically, this new parking space is located on the plot of 3,650 square meters that the City Council gave years ago to the Ministry of Health for the construction of a health center in the neighborhood, which has not been developed and which is not expected to be carried out in a horizon less than 36 months. Hence, last July, the mayor asked the Conselleria for authorization to "perform paving works on this plot, in order to condition it and provisionally allocate it as a parking of the schools until, the works of the health center begin ".

The mayor stressed that this plot will be asphalted and conditioned "with sidewalks", with lighting and other services, thus leaving the "already urbanized area" for the future construction of Els Tolls health center. "We invest with head - he added -, giving a temporary use to this plot" to "improve the quality of life of citizens" and also "the image of the environment".

The new incentive parking, created at the "suggestion of the educational community", has "88 places for tourism and cars, two places reserved for people with reduced mobility, and 14 for mopeds and motorcycles". The parking will have direct access to the three schools and the installation of loops under the asphalt is planned to measure the occupation and flow of vehicles.

Pérez stressed that this project is "the first designed by one of the under 30 years hired through the Qualified Youth Employment (EMCUJU)", funded with European funds and has allowed to add to the municipal staff to 49 young graduates , qualified or experts from different specialties.

Within the Sustainable and Integrated Urban Development Strategy (EDUSI) -along with the nearby second phase of Parque dels Ametlers-, the project is valued at around 187,000 euros and has an approximate execution period of two months, what will be operative before the end of the year.
