New minute of silence this afternoon at the doors of Benidorm City Hall in memory of the last victim of gender violence, a woman murdered in Alboraya. The acting mayor of Benidorm, Toni Pérez, and the acting councillor of Equality , Paquita Ripoll, have led the rally, in which representatives of different political groups and municipal workers have participated to show their rejection of sexist violence.
On this occasion the victim was a Spanish woman of 29, murdered to death yesterday by her sentimental partner, a Romanian subject of 49 years, who after committing the crime rushed from a fourth floor and also died. This is the 1,000th victim of gender-based violence in Spain since there were contrasted data in 2003.
The Department of Equality reminds women who may be facing a case of abuse, who can go to the municipal services or use the toll-free number 016 against gender violence. The call is not reflected in the telephone bill, but it is advisable to delete it from the list of calls from mobile phones.
