The members of the National Youth Team Pepe Casamayor, Ana Serralta and Paula Mayor have been received this afternoon by the mayor of Benidorm, Toni Pérez and the Councilor for Sports, Mariló Cebreros, after playing in Pattaya (Thailand) the World Championship of Nations Dragon Boat, a nautical rowing modality with more than 2,000 years old.

The oarman Pepe Casamayor obtained the silver medal in the distances of 2,000m, 500m and 200m respectively with the mixed national combined, while Ana Serralta and Paula Muñoz achieved the bronze medal in the distances of 2,000m and 500m in the women's category in a competition involving more than 4,000 rowers from different countries.

Both the mayor of Benidorm and the councillor of Sports have shown their satisfaction for the successes obtained by these local athletes and that once again combines Benidorm brand with international sports successes.

In Dragon Boat, boats of 10 to 20 rowers are used, which are decorated by a dragon head in the bow and a tail in the stern. The rowers must accompany the strokes to the rhythm that marks a drum located in the bow, while in the stern the helmsman is in charge of conducting the direction of the ship.
