The Minister of Health announces the start of work on the new health center on the plot ceded by the City Council in 2017

The mayor of Benidorm, Toni Pérez, has reaffirmed today the commitment of the City Council to continue investing in keeping the facilities of the current Rincón de Loix health center in good condition "as long as the new one is not operational".

This has been reported to the Minister of Health, Miguel Mínguez, who today visited the city to present the project for the new health center, which from the city "is expected almost like May water" and which will be located next to the fields of football 'Antonio López', on a plot ceded by the City Council at the end of 2017.

A project whose works, the minister reported, are already underway, which will involve an investment of around 4.6 million euros and which has a completion period of 23 months. The new building, Mínguez has commented, will have a ground floor and two heights. The ground floor will be dedicated to the "emergency service with continuous care" and to Pediatrics and midwives; the first will have "more than 16 Family Medicine and Nursing points". The top floor is projected as storage space and administrative work.

Mínguez has detailed that it is "a modern and very functional building", which will have "double access": one for emergency patients and another for those who go to outpatient clinics.

While waiting to have this new building, Toni Pérez stressed that "during today's visit we have been able to verify" that the facilities of the current center are in "magnificent conditions for care".

In this sense, he recalled that in the last six years "a lot has been invested in conserving and maintaining" that health center located on Avenida Juan Fuster Zaragoza; an investment effort that the City Council will extend until the new building is available. Recently and in response to the demands made by the management of the health center, the interior doors and the air conditioning have been reviewed and repaired, and bars have been installed on the windows.

As the mayor has influenced, "the City Council will be attentive at all times so that this center continues to be permanently updated", so that "as long as it has to continue providing this important service for Benidorm, it offers the same face that it offers now". A health center, he recalled, that "has more health cards in the city" and that also provides service to the so-called 'displaced patients', people who spend a season in Benidorm.
Before the presentation of the project and the visit to the current health center, the mayor and the minister held a meeting to address various issues. Toni Pérez has pointed out that in this meeting "the minister has shown that his complicity with Benidorm is very latent and up-to-date."
