Toni Pérez congratulates Hosbec for its 'Guide to fight against food waste in vacation hotels'
The mayor highlights the confluence of the public and private sector of Benidorm in the promotion of the Sustainable Development Goals
The mayor of Benidorm, Toni Pérez, stressed that programs such as the fight against food waste presented today by the hotel management Hosbec evidence "the confluence of the public and private sector in the promotion of the circular economy and the 17 Development Goals Sustainable "fixed by the UN for 2030. Likewise, it has uncovered that these Objectives are" aligned with Benidorm in the axis of Sustainability of the Smart Tourist Destination ".
Pérez has made this reflection in the closing of the official presentation of the 'Guide to fight against food waste in vacation hotels' developed by Hosbec. A presentation that has also had the assistance of the regional secretary of Tourism, Francesc Colomer; the director of Costa Blanca Board of Trustees, José Mancebo; the president of the employer's association, Toni Mayor; the first deputy mayor, Ana Pellicer; the general secretary of Hosbec, Nuria Montes; and the manager of Visit Benidorm, Leire Bilbao.
The purpose of this initiative is to promote practices in hotels that reduce food waste. To do this, the first step has been to develop a document that includes the main application strategies specific to the holiday hotel sector. The project contemplates accompanying the guide of other initiatives such as the development of campaigns and publication of informative material directed to clients and employees, the diffusion of successful initiatives on the part of establishments in this matter and that they want to share them, or the promotion of training courses .
