The L’Illa Swimming Crossing has been postponed to September 1st due to adverse weather conditions
Because of the weather forecast, the Department of Sports has announced the postponement of the 22nd edition of the traditional L’Illa-Port de Benidorm Popular Swimming Crossing, which was to be held this Sunday, August 25, and which will finally take place on Sunday, September 1.
The councillor for the department, Javi Jordá, has indicated that “at this time the forecast for this Sunday shows a state of the sea incompatible with the realization of the crossing, with winds of more than 20 knots and waves of 80 centimetres around 09.00 hours, with the situation being able to worsen throughout the morning”. Hence “it has been decided to postpone the event to next week”.
According to data from the Department of Sports, around 300 swimmers have registered for this edition of the crossing. The registrations confirmed at the time will continue to be valid for the new date of the event.
