The last stretch of Beniardá avenue open to pedestrian use

28 September 2016
El último tramo de la urbanización de la avenida Beniardá se abre al uso peatonal

The sidewalk has been widened to 6.83 meters. The section will be 100% accessible because the stairs has been replaced by a ramp

The last stretch that was pending to complete the urbanization of Beniardá Avenue, closest to El Cruce, has already been opened to pedestrian use after the works that have let to widen the sidewalk up to 6.83 meters wide. The councillor for Urbanism, Lourdes Caselles, indicated that these works began on 19 September after the City Council had signed an agreement with the owners of Hostal Roca to incorporate to the public via a space of 136.20 square meters that was for the exclusive use of the establishment , and reduced the width of the sidewalk less than one meter. The councillor stressed that "we were very interested in executing this work" because the narrowness of the sidewalk compromised the safety and pedestrian traffic, especially for people with reduced mobility or buggies that "had to go down to the road "to travel that stretch of about 20 meters. At the moment "works are nearly completed and a small ramp will replace the staircase". Once this ramp is finished, "Beniardá Avenue will be 100% accessible." The Urbanism responsible stressed that "in less than 15 days these works will be a reality and all the neighbors will see that their requests have been heard and that the avenue finally has the full spaciousness marking by the General Plan."
