L'Associació de Penyes and Fiestas prepare the Carnival to be celebrated on February 25

The Association of Penyes Verge del Sofratge and the Department of Fiestas are already preparing the Carnival, which is celebrated on Saturday 25 February. Children and adults will wear their disguises through the streets of downtown Benidorm in two parades: the children's in the morning and the adult at night. The president of the Associació, Mariano Nájera, and the councilman of Fiestas, Jesus Carrobles, presented last night the poster and the program of acts of Carnival 2017 during the weekly meeting of the collective peñista.

The children's parade will start at 11.00 am from Escuelas street. The smaller ones will parade through the streets Ruzafa and Herrerías until arriving at the Plaza Its Majestades Kings of Spain, where will install a playground with inflatables and animation and where will be offered to all the children disguised juices and goodies.

Nájera explained that three prizes have been arranged in the form of individual disguise and three others in the group. The best individual costume will receive a prize of 100 euros; 75, the second; And 50 euros, the third. The amount of the first group prize will be 300 euros; The second will get 200 euros and 100 the third.

In the evening, the adult parade will begin at 21.30 hours from Venus Street and will also end at Plaza Her Majesty. There, all registered participants will receive a snack and refreshment, and later they will be able to enjoy a party enlivened by Arturo Fernández (from Sirena-Cadena Radio COPE), Locos por Bailar and dj Jonathan López (from Women, Men and Vice versa); And in which there will be consumption at popular prices and in which Pipo's Gin will collaborate.

For the parade of adults l'Associació de Penyes has arranged three prizes in the individual modality and eight in the group. In the first, the prizes range from 300 to 100 euros; While the best group costume will be recognized with 1,000 euros. The second group prize will receive 800 euros; 600, the third; 400 euros, the fourth classified; And 200 euros, the fifth. The groups that are in sixth, seventh and eighth place will have a prize of 100 euros.

Those interested in participating in the category of children can register until February 23; Two days before the registration for the adult category will be closed. The inscription sheets can be found in the Casa del Fester and can be presented in the office of the Associació - on the third floor of the building - or in the mailbox of the entity - located on the ground floor.

The program for Carnival 2017 will be closed on Tuesday, February 28 with the traditional Burial of the Sardine, which will start at 21.30 hours of the Plaza Mayor and will tour Tomás Ortuño, Apolo XI, Carrascos, Ruzafa, Paseo de la Carretera, Paseo de Colón and Parque de Elche, where Doña Sardina will be incinerated under a fireworks display. To make more of this particular procession, three stops are planned along the route. In each one of them participants can enjoy a small snack.
