The JGL approves the 23rd remittance of aid to families
The Local Government Board (JGL) today has approved the 23rd installment of municipal aid to families aimed at mitigating the economic and social effects caused by the Covid-19 pandemic for an amount of 58,700 euros. The mayor, Toni Pérez, has reported that “the processing of these grants, which have reached more than 2,000 people, continues incessantly, with weekly meetings of the technical commission that is in charge of evaluating the petitions to determine which applicants meet the requirements. to receive this benefit ”.
In the same way, he indicated, "progress is also made in the payment of previously approved remittances." Thus, as of tomorrow, Thursday, "the payment of the first monthly payment of remittance 22, approved last week for a total amount of 171,6000 euros and which reached 208 beneficiaries, becomes effective."
The mayor recalled that the payment of the total amount granted to each beneficiary is effective in three monthly installments; and added that "to date the first 16 remittances have been paid in full and it is expected that this week the payment of all remittances 17 and 18 will be completed." Of the following remittances "one or two monthly payments have been settled depending on the case."
Toni Pérez recalled that "during the submission period, around 6,100 applications were received, of which more than 4,400 have already been processed, more than 72%." Of the applications processed, more than 2,200 have been resolved favorably when the beneficiaries meet the requirements.
Initially, the City Council reserved 1.4 million euros for these grants, an amount that corresponded to 20% of the surplus in 2019, the maximum percentage that the Government of Spain has allowed the City Councils to allocate to measures related to the coronavirus crisis. In the plenary session of last September, a budgetary modification was made possible to inject an additional 500,000 euros to these aid, and is already working on a second for the same amount to be able to serve all the people with the right to this benefit. This extraordinary million euros comes from the current resources of the 2020 budget, for which investments or current expenses planned for this year have been dispensed with.
