The 18 young graduates hired by the City Council with European funds end their service

The 18 young graduates hired by the City Council with European funds end their service...

The 18 young graduates from the City Council for a year with European funds through the EMCUJU –Avalem Joves Plus program– will end on Wednesday their services in the different municipal departments where they have carried out their work over the last 12 months.

The Councilor for Employment and Local Development, Mónica Gómez, recalled that “the City Council received, through Labora-Valencian Employment and Training Service, a subsidy of 289,045.19 euros from the Operational Program for Youth Employment of the European Social Fund (ESF ) 2014-2020 for the hiring of young graduates under 30 years of age who are unemployed ”. These young people joined the City Council in October 2019 and depending on their training they have served, among others, in the departments of Social Welfare, Information Technology, Human Resources, Intervention, Environment, in the Smart Office and in Employment Agency and Local Promotion (AEDL).

Gómez pointed out that this program "has allowed participants to increase their work experience in occupations related to their academic training, reinforcing and improving at the same time the services and work of certain City Council departments".

The person in charge of Employment and Local Development has indicated that "in the coming days the young people who were hired within the EMPUJU program will also finish their work, also aimed at those under 30 but in this case without graduates.

Gómez recalled that "for this 2020, the Generalitat Valenciana has not held the EMCUJU program, but the EMPUJU for which we have requested a subsidy of 317,244.48 euros to hire 20 unemployed young people under 30 years of age for a year". In addition, the City Council has asked to participate in a new employment program launched by the regional government called ECOVID2020 and also financed with European funds. In this case, the mayor has specified, “we have requested about 700,000 euros to hire 60 unemployed people from 30 years of age to meet needs derived from Covid-19 for a period of six months.

The City Council is waiting for LABORA to solve these requests to know the final amount awarded. If we participate in both programs, "we would cover all age ranges and address employment needs both among the young population and among those over 30 years old."
