The International Organ Festival returns to Benidorm

24 August 2021
El Festival Internacional de Órgano vuelve a Benidorm

The Parish of Sant Jaume i Santa Anna will host for the ninth time the Benidorm International Organ Festival which will offer four concerts, one each month in September, October, November and December

The ninth edition of the Benidorm International Organ Festival, FIOB, will open its doors on Friday, September 4. This was announced today by the Councilor for Culture, Jaime Jesús Pérez, who has encouraged visitors and residents to “enjoy one of the best liturgical organs in the Valencian Community” and “the only instrument of these characteristics with three keyboards in the province of Alicante ”.
The mayor has indicated that entry to the recitals "will be free", although "limited" to the capacity established by the health authorities. Jaime Jesús Pérez, thanked the collaboration of the parish and its titular priest, Juan Antonio González, who “for yet another year offers the people of Benidorm in a selfless way its facilities to the musicians so that they can carry out rehearsals and carry out concerts. .
The first of the recitals will be on September 4, at 9:00 p.m. by the organist Javier Artigas and the oboists José Antonio Gonzaga and Pedro Cusac. Gonzaga, the Councilor for Culture has emphasized, is from Benidorma and currently a teacher and solo oboe in the Malaga Philharmonic Orchestra. With his presence at the International Organ Festival it is demonstrated that "the good musicians that we have in the national and international spheres also come to Benidorm so that we can enjoy their music."
The second event of the festival will be on October 29, at 8:00 p.m., with Brice Montagnoux on the organ and clarinetist Eva Villegas. On November 26, Alberto Mammarella will perform alone the liturgical organ, at 8:00 p.m. Finally, at the same time, on December 18, the organist Benantzi Bilbao will perform the last of the concerts accompanied by the soprano Pepi Lloret.
