In addition to repairing the pavement, a new park-and-ride parking facility has been created on Marina Alta Avenue

The improvement of the asphalting in five streets of La Cala enters its final stretch

24 May 2018
La mejora del asfaltado de cinco calles de La Cala entra en su recta final

The project designed by the City Council to improve paving in five streets of the northern area of La Cala neighborhood and to create a free park-and-ride parking facility with capacity for more than 40 vehicles has entered its final stretch. This has been checked today by the mayor, Toni Pérez, and the Councilor for Works and Mobility, José Ramón González de Zárate, who have informed that five of the seven planned actions have already been completed and that the two remaining ones will be made on Friday morning.

Specifically, the planned paving has been completed in a section of 3,345 square meters of Benissa Street, which links the health center and Villajoyosa Avenue; and the rolling layer of the access road to El Murtal public school and the intersection of Denia street and Calpe avenue have been improved.

Likewise, a parking area of 1,400 square meters has been set up on a municipal plot of Marina Alta Avenue, which will increase the number of free parking spaces in Poniente and reduce the intensity of traffic on the front line. This action has been accompanied by the asphalting of the section of the avenue that runs from this point to Marina Baixa.

The mayor indicated that the machines are still working in Oviedo street, where speed reducers are being installed, and in Juan Antonio Baldoví street, where the pavement is being improved on the section between Villajoyosa avenue and Langreo street.

Pérez said that "with this 'Operation Asphalt' we continue to improve and update the streets of La Cala; a renovation that in many ways has not been limited only to the pavement and that we started more than two years ago ". "Since then," he added, "we have not stopped investing in the neighborhood and every budget year we have done work to improve mobility and the urban scene in different parts of La Cala, an important residential and tourist area of Benidorm."

These actions have involved an investment of nearly 60,000 euros.
