The coronation of the new queen of the festivities last night kicked off the festivities in the Imalsa II neighbourhood, which will celebrate its festivities this weekend, which this year celebrates its 40th anniversary. An act that brought together a multitude of neighbours and that was attended by the mayor of Benidorm, Toni Pérez, who was also the maintainer of the party, the Councilor for Fiestas Jesús Carrobles and members of the local corporation. A large number of local festive entities also gathered.
The Imalsa festivities, which were recovering after two years of hiatus due to the pandemic, began with a minute of silence in memory of the neighbours who died during this time.
The celebration continued with the arrival of the previous queen, María Lozano, who imposed the accrediting band on the new queen, the girl Valentina Rodríguez, accompanied by her court of ladies.
After placing the bow tie on the festive banner, the maintainer of the act, Mayor Toni Pérez began his proclamation by remembering the people who have left us during the pandemic "of whom we maintain their experiential legacy that we will never forget."
Pérez stressed that these parties are for "neighbours" and highlighted the importance of neighbourhoods "as the epicentre where community relations are established, the protagonist of daily events and social thermometer with formal identity."
He also affirmed that the residents of Imalsa "are the architects of the growth and development of Benidorm" and expressed his applause "to the outgoing queen, who has today given the witness to Valentina, whom we also applaud together with her court of honour". "Today Imalsa shines much brighter thanks to you," he continued. Pérez concluded his intervention by recalling that “Benidorm is the sum of its people, we arrive when we arrive, we live where we live and we are as old as we are”.
The celebration ended with the festive entities present, who paid homage to the new queen and her court of honour.
