The III Cocktail Competition consolidates and breaks records with 14 participating establishments
The mayor says that hospitality is “the third preference of our tourists, behind beaches and leisure activities”
Fourteen Benidorm hospitality establishments are taking part in the third edition of the Cocktail Competition, the penultimate initiative of Benidorm Gastronómico 2024, whose presentation took place this afternoon at the Domingo Devesa Tourist Development Centre (CDT). A figure that represents a record of participation compared to previous years and that shows the consolidation of the gastronomic event, as highlighted by the mayor Toni Pérez, the vice president of Abreca, Alex Frattini, and the godfather of Benidorm Gastronómico, Juan Fernández
Each of the establishments in this edition has presented two cocktails; one with alcohol and one without alcohol, as established by the competition rules.
To vote, customers must visit one of the participating establishments and taste the cocktail in the competition. Once consumed, they will have to ask the waiter for the QR voting code, scan it with their mobile phone and rate it between 1 and 5 stars. Voters can provide their phone number to enter the draw for six vouchers redeemable for a cocktail each among those participating in the vote.
The competition will be held from 13 to 22 September, both inclusive, and these are the dates when voting can be done. The participating establishments are the following: ‘A Bordo Gastrolounge’, ‘BC Music Resort’, ‘Camarote Club’, ‘Diva 15’, ‘La Pinta Beach’, ‘La Terrasse’, ‘Llum de Mar’, ‘Magic Stars Café’, ‘Malaspina’, ‘Maüi Beach Gastrolounge’, ‘Mía Social Club’, ‘Pinocchio Playa’, ‘Planta 20 (Hotel Madeira) and ‘Urban Beach’.
Alex Frattini, from Abreca, highlighted in the presentation “the importance of this competition”, as well as “the enormous effort” of the waiters and employees when preparing the product. “But we have great professionals in Benidorm” he added “and this competition is a tribute to the tenacity, effort and professionalism of the hospitality workers in Benidorm”.
Juan Fernández, the godfather of Benidorm Gastronómico, has revealed how the cocktails originated with a brief history and pointed out that “each one tells a story and invites you to enjoy unique moments”. Fernández stated that the client who consumes these drinks “is demanding and seeks quality and originality”. In addition, he has indicated that in Benidorm “the cocktail is an exponent of our cosmopolitan identity”. He also thanked Abreca and the collaborating partners “for their dedication in this competition and the entire Benidorm Gastronómico calendar” and finished his speech by inviting “all the residents of Benidorm and the region and all the tourists to come to the 14 establishments to taste the cocktails that we present today”.
Finally, Mayor Toni Pérez thanked Abreca and Juan Fernández for their dedication and revealed that hospitality “is the third preference of our tourists, only behind beaches and leisure activities”. “We promote happiness and break records” said Pérez, who added that the city has “more than 36,000 members of Social Security, and that is largely down to those of you who work in the hospitality industry. We are the only city in the Valencian Community with a single-digit unemployment rate”. The mayor concluded by saying that “we continue to strive to make our leading destination better every day because we are in the best hands”.
