Hundreds of young people enjoy sports and video games at ‘Benidorm Games Event’
The event took place throughout the weekend at Palau d’Esports, featuring games, simulators, tournaments and a talk by content creator Enyus
Hundreds of children and young people from Benidorm have enjoyed playing their favourite video games this weekend, taking part in tournaments and attending a talk by content creator Enyus at a new edition of ‘Benidorm Games Event’. Organised by Benidorm City Council’s Department of Youth, the event was held at the Carrer de Pilota and on the outdoor courts of the Palau d’Esports L’Illa.
The Councillor for Youth, Ana Soliveres, highlighted that the event had taken place in “a great atmosphere, with strong participation from young people in our city and also from other parts of the comarca”. She thanked them for their support for this technology-focused event aimed at enthusiasts of technology, online gaming, video game consoles and simulators.
On Saturday afternoon, Ana Soliveres visited the gamers taking part in the event, accompanied by Mayor Toni Pérez and other members of the local government. During their visit, they took the opportunity to talk to participants and their families, exchange views and hear their feedback on the ‘Games Event’, organised in collaboration with specialist company Oxygen Gaming and with the support of the Alicante Provincial Council.
The councillor noted that the Department of Youth organises at least “two technology events for video game enthusiasts” every year: one in the Plaza de SS MM los Reyes de España and another at the Palau d’Esports. Year after year, both events have proved “a success in terms of participation, a great atmosphere and fun for our youngest residents”.
She also highlighted that “this year, we have combined real-life sports activities with virtual tournaments”. According to the councillor, this combination “has also attracted a high level of participation and received a very positive response from attendees”.
