Hundreds of neighbors come to the Sanz Hermitage to commemorate Sant Antoni festival
L'Horta de Benidorm has celebrated the festival of Sant Antoni Abad in its best years. And, just like yesterday, he did so with several hundred neighbours who came to the traditional mass and the subsequent blessing of their pets.
At 10:30 the mass began inside the installed tent, a ceremony that was officiated by the parish priest José Luis Rodes. At the end of it, the list of the 54 members of the Fiestas Commission that will make up the 2023-24 Commission has been read.
At the ceremony were the mayor Toni Pérez, as well as the Festival councillor, Mariló Cebreros, members of the municipal corporation, the president of the Sant Antoni commission, Juan Pedro López Villar, as well as the Festes Majors Patronals, María Dolores Cano, queens Valentina Almodóbar and Laia Zamora and their court of honour. Representatives of other festive entities in the city have also attended, as usual.
During the religious ceremony, the priest blessed the loaves that were subsequently distributed among those attending. Shortly afterwards, outside the Hermitage, the priest proceeded to bless the numerous pets that their owners had brought there, an act that put an end to the celebrations in honour of Sant Antoni this year.
