Haigor Aranguren and Eliana Sotelo, winners of the XVI Popular Swiming Crossing L'Illa-Port of Benidorm
It is the second victory of the swimmer of the CN Aguaviva of Benidorm; while the swimmer from Donostia, who summer in Benidorm, has achieved his fourth consecutive victory
The Donostiarra swimmer Haigor Aranguren (00: 43'51 ") and the swimmer Eliana Sotelo (00: 51'20") have been the absolute winners of the 'XVI Popular Swimming Crossing L'Illa-Port of Benidorm' which has been played this morning with a finish on Mal Pas beach and in which 360 swimmers have participated and swimmers and only one has failed to complete the test.
Absolute success of a consolidated test in the sports calendar of Benidorm and that has been developed with good weather and sea conditions, and without incidents. The winners in the local category have been Eliana Sotelo and the Benidorm swimmer Jonas Marín of CN Finisher of Benidorm. The Finisher Club has also won the trophy to the club with the largest representation with a total of 20 swimmers, followed closely by the Club Aguaviva with 19. The representatives of the two clubs posed at the end all together on the podium.
The first deputy mayor, Ana Pellicer; the Councilor for Sports, Arturo Cabrillo; the councilman of Events, José Ramón González de Zárate; the queens mayor and infantile of Major Patron Festivities 2017, Anna Galiana and Angela Antón, accompanied by several of their ladies; the president of the Festival Committee 2017, Antonio Vicente Fuster; and representatives of the different sponsors have participated in the delivery of the 61 trophies that have been distributed in the different categories.
It is important to highlight the important safety device deployed to help participants, monitor the course and guide swimmers in a straight line from the Island to the finish: 41 kayaks, zodiac and the dron of the Local Beach Police, 3 speedboats of the nautical activities of the Department of Sports, 12 motor boats of support, 3 motorcycles of water, a support boat of the Civil Guard and divers of the Fire Brigade.
The entities and companies collaborating with this sporting event have been the Marina Baixa Cultural Sports Association, Red Cross Benidorm, the Local Beach Police, Maritime Excursions of Benidorm S.L., Club Naútico de Benidorm, R.A. Benidorm, Diving Stone, Serra Gelada Natural Park, Carlos Serrano Water Sports, Scout Horizon Group, Comissió Festes Majors Patronals 2017, Coca Cola Iberian Partners, Hospital IMED Levante and Maderoterapia Benidorm, whose representatives have received a commemorative plaque from the Town Hall.
