This route, which links Esperanto with Emilio Ortuño, currently lacks accessibility

The Governing Board approves the project to renovate Mar street and provide it with all services

30 August 2019
La Junta de Gobierno aprueba el proyecto para renovar la calle del Mar y dotarla de todos los servicios

The work is included in the municipal budget, valued at 355,000 euros and is key to the water network in the area

The Local Government Board has approved the project of 'Renovation and improvement of water network in Calle del Mar' that will allow updating and providing all services to this road that connects the streets Esperanto and Emilio Ortuño and that is key to the operation of the water network of the area. This project drafted by the water concessionaire, Hidraqua, at the request of the City Council is valued at 355,000 euros and its financing is included in the investments section of the 2019 municipal budget.

The mayor, Toni Pérez, explained that “as we have been doing in the last four years every time we carry out water infrastructure renovation works, we will accompany this work in the subsoil with a substantial improvement of the urban scene and aesthetics from Calle del Mar; something that is absolutely necessary, since we are talking about a street without accessibility and with a single sidewalk just half a meter wide ”.

Toni Pérez has insisted that “we have given priority to acting on this street because after more than 30 years the water infrastructure is very deteriorated, so the deficiencies and breakdowns are continuous, affecting the operation of the service in the environment "

Hence, the project provides for the complete renovation of the waste network with the installation of a new collector, log wells and household sanitation connections. In addition, it will also provide the street with a rainwater network -for the collection of rainwater- and the water supply will be completely renewed, extending it to Emilio Ortuño Street.

Already on the surface, “Calle del Mar will become a single platform and therefore 100% accessible, following the model of the streets Mayor or Apollo XI”, and variable sidewalk width, defined by two bollard lines and 1, 35 meters of average width. In this way, "we favor the passage of pedestrians through a street that until now was to avoid due to the lack of sidewalks in conditions and the lack of accessibility." The project also contemplates replacing all current luminaires with others of the type ‘LED’ to “advance in energy saving within the public lighting network”.

After the approval of the project in JGL, it will proceed to write the specifications of administrative conditions for the bidding of the works, which have an execution period of 4 months.
