A mass for the patron saint and a mascletà were the main events of the day, which culminates tonight with the traditional Cremà
The 'foguerers' of La Cala celebrate the big day in honor of San Juan
Hoguera La Cala celebrated in this neighbourhood of Benidorm the big day of Hogueras 2024, the day of San Juan, with a complete program of events that will take place until after midnight. The commission chaired by Jesús Antonio Pérez participated this afternoon in a mass dedicated to the Baptist and, at two in the afternoon, the Bellea, Ana Orozco was in charge of starting a sonorous mascletà that was filled with noise and the smell of gunpowder the streets closest to the house and the monuments.
The mayor of Benidorm, Toni Pérez, and the councillor of Fiestas, Mariló Cebreros, have accompanied the 'foguerers' of La Cala at the high mass along with other members of the Municipal Corporation. Benidorm senator Agustín Almodóbar also attended; the queens of the Major Patron Saint Festivals of 2024, Valentina Almodóbar Climent and Laia Zamora Picó; as well as members of the Comissió de Festes Majors Patronals, the Associació de Penyes Verge del Sofratge, the brotherhoods and residents of the neighbourhood.
The celebration of the big day of the Benidorm Bonfires will continue throughout the day with parades and other recreational events in the house itself, before giving way to the highest moment of these festivities: the Cremà of the monuments, with which the festivity finishes and Hogueras 2025 are welcomed.
The Cremà of the children's bonfire is scheduled to begin at 10:30 p.m., while the main monument is scheduled to start burning at midnight.
