Floats and magnificent fireworks put the finishing touch to a brilliant Festes Majors Patronals 2023
The Festes Majors Patronals are already looking to 2024. With the firing of the fireworks display, the festivities have come to an end that will remain in the memory of the people of Benidorm due to the massive following of their events, both those organized by the Commission and those of the Penyes Association.
After the morning events, the afternoon began at 6 p.m. with the Float Parade, which included the participation of 34 floats, in addition to three for this year's queens and ladies. It will be tonight when the prizes for this parade will be announced, which, as in the 2022 edition, will distribute 1,000 euros for the best float, 600 euros for the second prize, and 400 for the third prize. The best handmade float wins the 'Manuel Agüera' prize, worth 1,500 euros. All awards are also accompanied by a trophy.
The parade started from Alcoy Avenue and passed through Martínez Alejos, Ruzafa, Venus, Marte, and Almendros and ended in Elche Park. The last floats, those of the Queens and their Courts, put the finishing touch to a parade that has been followed by several thousand people along its route and with all the available seats sold out long before it began. Several thousand people did not want to miss the colorful parade through the center of Benidorm.
The culmination of the Festes came later with the firing of the spectacular, sonorous, and innovative fireworks display from Poniente beach by the Mediterranean pyrotechnics, which illuminated the sky of Benidorm before an astonished crowd. A total of 1,496.37 kilos of gunpowder was distributed over 18 minutes which drew applause from the thousands of people present on multiple occasions.
With the festivities now over, Benidorm is already starting the countdown to the Patronal Majors Festes of 2024.
