Five clubs receive municipal aid for the promotion and support of women's sport...

Five sports clubs in Benidorm have benefited from the aid convened by the City Council in 2020 for the promotion and support of women's sport, as reported by the councilor of the department, Mariló Cebreros. She has indicated that "the purpose of these grants, which were convened for the first time in 2019, is to promote and contribute to giving visibility to the female sport of Benidorm and our local athletes."

"With these grants from the City Council we want to recognize and collaborate with the entities that are committed to promoting women's sport and, with it, advance and consolidate gender equality in this case through sport", she added.

According to the figures reported by the councilor, in total, and after the justification process by the beneficiary entities, a total of 88,297.91 euros have been granted. The beneficiary entities have been Beach Volleyball Club of Benidorm, Benidorm Basketball Club, Benidorm Athletic Club, Poniente Beach Volleyball Club and the Nautical Club. The maximum eligible amount per entity was 20,000 euros.

Cebreros recalled that "these grants are convened and resolved in a process of free competition and in which the amount awarded is established by a technical commission based on a series of objective criteria such as the time that the entity has been participating with teams women in federated events; the number of sports members registered in Benidorm; federative expenses related to teams or female athletes; the organization of activities aimed at promoting women's sports; or its collaboration with the Department in sporting events ”.

Cebreros has indicated that in the next few days these grants will be awarded to the five beneficiary sport entities; and she has advanced that "throughout the year the call for grants for 2021 will be announced, for which 100,000 euros have been reserved".
