Film music takes centre stage at Camerata ‘Ars Cantica’ summer concert
Yesterday, Camerata Ars Cantica de Benidorm offered its traditional Summer Concert, in which the music from well-known films took centre stage in a municipal Assembly Hall packed for the occasion and with free entry for attendees. Conducted by Jaime Francisco Ripoll Martins and María Eugenia Palomares Atienza on piano, the concert was an unforgettable evening in which both classic films and contemporary films were honoured through a careful selection of pieces that transported the audience on a journey through some of the most iconic soundtracks in cinema.
The first part of the concert was a tribute to ‘Los Muchachos del Coro’ in which the pieces ‘Compère Guilleri’, ‘Caresse sur l’ocean’, ‘In memoriam’, ‘Cerf-Volant’ and ‘Vois sur ton chemin’ were performed. The second part offered the works ‘I don’t know how to love him’ (Jesus Christ Superstar), ‘Over the rainbow’ (The Wizard of Oz), ‘Think of me’ (The Phantom of the Opera), ‘The music of the night’ (The Phantom of the Opera), ‘Bella y Bestia’ (Beauty and the Beast) and ‘Aquarius’ (Hair).
The Councillor for Culture, Jaime Jesús Pérez, attended the event, accompanied by several members of the municipal corporation.
