Elche Park is transformed into a medieval market for the celebration of the Town Charter

09 May 2025

For yet another year, coinciding with the celebrations of the granting of the Carta de Poblament (Town Charter) by Bernat de Sarrià in 1325, which marks seven centuries this year, Benidorm's Elche Park has once again been transformed into a medieval market, with numerous stalls selling crafts, food, and traditional games.

The initiative, promoted by the Independent Association of Merchants (AICO) in collaboration with the Departments of Festivals and Commerce, was officially inaugurated today by the councillors of both areas, Mariló Cebreros and Javier Jordá; the president of AICO, Raúl Parra; the queens of the Festes Majors Patronals, Paula Pascual Sánchez and Aitana Pérez Gutiérrez, and their courts of honour; and the presidents of the Festival Commission and the Association of Patrons, Susana Martínez and Jonathan López de las Huertas.

The medieval market, nestled in Elche Park and on Calle del Alcalde José Such Ortega, is made up of dozens of stalls run by artisans with extensive experience in this type of event, offering jewellery, spices, essences and essential oils, toys, leather goods, and other items present at these fairs. There is also a dedicated play area and a food and drink area, which will be complemented over the weekend with entertainment and street performances.

It will remain open throughout the weekend and will close its doors on Sunday afternoon/evening, when it will close until next year.
