The Councilors for Equality and Sports highlight the progressive increase in female athletes

The Trinquet 'Vicente Pérez Devesa' in Benidorm hosts this Sunday, April 23, the third and last day of the II President's Cup of the Diputació d'Alacant of the female Valencian pilot in the 'raspall' modality and in which eight teams participate in two categories. The one in Benidorm will be a decisive day for this competition, as it is the last games of the group prior to the finals, as highlighted by the Councilors for Equality and Sports, Ángela Zaragozí and Mariló Cebreros.

The highlight of the day will be the first category game in which, starting at 12:00, the couple formed by Victoria de Valencia and Anabel de Tavernes Blanques will face off against Irene de Massamagrell and Myriam de l'Alqueria d'Asnar . Both couples arrive at this game tied at three points, so the one that wins will fight for the title.

An hour before, the previous game of the 2nd category will be played in which Erika de l'Alqueria d'Asnar and Vanessa de Moixent will face Aina de Meliana and Andrea de Quatretondeta.

The winning teams will play the finals on May 1 in Benissa.

Zaragozí stressed that this game constitutes "an opportunity to make visible female participation in this sport that is so ours and that has traditionally always been identified with the male gender"; while she has highlighted "the progressive and sustained increase in the percentage of women who practice Valencian pilota". In fact, the number of federated players is already in the hundreds, and "many more are being formed."

The Councilor for Equality stressed that "the pilota excites and motivates girls and the raspall, the most popular modality, helps us show a female dominance unthinkable a few years ago."
