The neighbourhood of El Campo and the streets of the Old Town experienced a day that will go down in history as the first in which the image of the Good Shepherd, which gives its name to the parish, has been carried in a procession by its faithful.

With the church packed, the parish priest, Juan Bautista Samper, conducted the Eucharist, which also coincided with the confirmation ceremony of nine faithful, two of them adults who, in this way, reiterated their faith in the presence of hundreds. of neighbours.

The day has been followed out of interest by a large part of the neighbourhood who attended the religious event and, later, witnessed the procession. Among the attendees, were the mayor, Toni Pérez, the Fiestas councillor, Mariló Cebreros, and other members of the corporation. Also present were the regional deputy, José Ramón González de Zárate, the Elder Brother of the Royal Brotherhood of Nuestras Señore de la Paz y Esperanza and Nuestro Padre Jesús de la Salud y Humildad, José Manuel Olvera; and the chief commissioner of the National Police in the city who, it should be remembered, is an honorary brother.

The event was also attended by the queens of the Festes Majos Patronals 2024, Valentina Almodóbar and Laia Zamora; the president of the Commission, Mª Dolores Cano; representatives of brotherhoods and brotherhoods, regional houses and social and festive groups of the city.

Once the worship was concluded, the image left the temple on the shoulders of the brothers and travelled in procession through the neighbourhood streets. It should be noted that the Church of the Good Shepherd was founded in 1977 and it took 47 years for it to procession for the first time in Benidorm.
