The educational community and citizens of Benidorm have put all its efforts with the solidarity campaign to collect school supplies for the towns of Vega Baja affected by the storm. A campaign launched and coordinated by the Local Association of APAs of Benidorm, which the City Council has provided support through the Department of Education and Youth, directed by Maite Moreno and Jaime Jesús Pérez.
After finishing the campaign yesterday, municipal technical services staff has started today the collection of all school supplies material provided by neighbors of Benidorm and have moved it to the departments of Youth, in the municipal administrative extensions and at the headquarters of the Local Association of APAs.
According to data provided by the Councilor for Education, the material provided has been distributed in more than fifty boxes, which will now be sent to the FAPA Gabriel Miró for distribution among schoolchildren in the towns of Vega Baja. Moreno said that "it is a pleasure to see how the educational centers of Benidorm have been involved to facilitate the students of Vega Baja to recover school normality as soon as possible after the heavy rains that have wreaked havoc in the region."
The councillor of Youth, for his part, thanked the citizens "the solidarity, collaboration and rapid and committed response that has been given to the call made by the Local Association of APAs and the City Council to help our neighbors at such complicated times of the Vega Baja ”.
Pérez recalled that, as a reinforcement for this campaign, next Monday the plenary will vote on a proposal from the local government to “enable extraordinary economic aid of 10,000 euros to help alleviate the most urgent needs” of the population of the affected municipalities.
