More than 9,000 people from Benidorm were born in Andalusia and La Casa de Andalucía represents them

The Cruz de Mayo returns to Benidorm with La Casa de Andalucía

The Casa de Andalucía in Benidorm once again takes up the celebration of the Cruz de Mayo, a peculiar festivity, of religious origin, widely rooted in this Spanish region, with which it says goodbye to bad weather and pays homage to life with coloured flowers that make up the cross.

With the Cruz de Mayo, good weather is welcomed in many Spanish towns, but it is in Andalusia where they manifest themselves in their maximum splendour. That is what the Casa de Andalucía in Benidorm wanted to convey, as its president, Raúl González Melero, pointed out on a festive day on which the Andalusian community claims the important role it plays in the city.

More than 9,000 people born in Andalusia live in Benidorm. It is, without a doubt, one of the most active communities in the city, as demonstrated by the activity generated by the Casa de Andalucía, founded in 1979. Its president, Raúl González Melero, has encouraged all Benidorm residents to participate in the activities organized by the entity that currently brings together more than a hundred partners.

The Councilor for Festivities, Jesús Carrobles, wanted, along with other members of the corporation, to show the City Council's full support for the people of Benidorm with Andalusian roots by participating in the celebration of the May Cross that returns to Benidorm, one more year, after the pandemic. Together with the institutional representation, representatives of all the regional and festive entities of the city have participated in the event.

Carrobles has encouraged the president of the entity and its queens Mayor and Infantil, the sisters Raquel and Alba Rodríguez López de las Huertas, to "continue to represent" all Andalusians in the city and to "preserve their traditions that are already part of the cultural heritage and society of Benidorm”.

The Casa de Andalucía has taken advantage of the occasion to encourage residents and visitors to participate in the pilgrimage organized by the entity between June 16 and 19.
