A conference by Francesc Xavier Llorca Ibi begins the activities of the XXXIV Trobada d'Escoles in Valencià in Benidorm
Fifty educational centers from all over the Marina Baixa will participate
This Friday afternoon, the Municipal Center of Torrejó hosted a conference by the Benidorm philologist Francesc Xavier Llorca Ibi, which served to kick off the celebration in Benidorm of the XXXIV Trobada d'Escoles en Valencià de la Marina Baixa, organized by Escola Valenciana and the Coordinator for Education in Valencia of the Marina Baixa.
Under the title 'Els noms de lloc a Benidorm (i altres pobles de la Marina Baixa), Llorca Ibi made an extensive exhibition on the origin of the toponymy of our region and many terms, some that are still used and others that have been lost with time.
The mayor of Benidorm, Toni Pérez, participated in this event along with the Councilor for Education, Maite Moreno; other councillors from the local government team; and the public who attended to listen to the conference-colloquium offered by the also professor at the University of Alicante.
The XXXIV Trobada d'Escoles en Valencià will be held next weekend in our town and will bring together students, teachers and families from fifty educational centres throughout the Marina Baixa. On Friday, May 24, the City Hall Assembly Hall will host the presentation of this new edition of the Trobada, as well as the delivery of the Sambori awards and the prize for the drawing contest for the cover of this year's advertising poster. In addition, different awards will be given to the centres participating in the Trobada and there will be a performance by the students of the Benidorm Municipal Elementary Dance Conservatory.
Already on Saturday, May 25, the day of the Trobada d'Escoles in Valencià, the day will begin at noon at the Torrejó Municipal Center, where teacher Pasqual Almiñana will offer a talk that will address 'The Look of Vicent Andrés Estellés about Benidorm'. At 5 p.m., the participating centres will gather in Elche Park, from where they will hold a parade to the Parque de l'Aigüera, where workshops and a snack for participants will be held. Finally, at 9 p.m., in the Óscar Esplá auditorium, a concert by Àlex Blat will take place.
