The concert by the Rondalla ACR La Barqueta continues Sant Jaume's program
The program of events on the occasion of the celebration of Sant Jaume, patron saint of Benidorm, continued last night in the city with the celebration of the concert offered by the Rondalla of the Barqueta Recreational Cultural Association in the church of San Jaime and Santa Ana.
The appointment, which began at 9:00 p.m. and lasted for an hour, filled the church with attendees who did not want to miss the performance of the musicians. The event was attended by the Councilor for Fiestas, Jesús Carrobles and members of the municipal corporation. Along with them were also the elder and child queens of the Festes Majors Patronals, Aila Merenciano and Chloe D'Debboudt, their bridesmaids, the president of the Comissió, José Vicente Fuster, and the president of La Barqueta, Francisco Llorens, among other personalities.
The acts in honour of Sant Jaume continue today with an aerial bombardment at noon in the Plaça de Castelar. In the afternoon, at 7:30 p.m. in Plaça del Torrejó, and after the parade and collection of the image of Santiago Apóstol, the poster announcing the Festes Majors Patronals will be presented. Then, at 8:30 p.m. in the church of Sant Jaume and Santa Ana, a Eucharist will be officiated in honour of the patron saint, sung and played on the organ by the parish group.
After the mass, in Plaça de Sant Jaume the 'Estampeta' of the saint and the Queens, Aila Merenciano and Chloe d'Hebboudt, will be fired, and their bridesmaids will dance the traditional 'peuet' dance, which will be followed by a castle of fireworks from the prestigious Ricasa pyrotechnics. At the festival's end, a popular verbena will take place at Plaça de Castelar.
