This Saturday, September 23, the Benidorm Patron Major Festivities Committee resumes the traditional 'Euro Marathon', an initiative to raise funds for the Patron Major Festivities next November and with the establishments collaborating every year. This new edition of the 'Euro Marathon' will begin at 10:00 a.m. at Tomás Ortuño Street, near l'Hort de Colón, from where the placement of all the euros raised for the organization of the festivities will begin, which will take place from November 11 to 15.
The members of the 2023 Commission had initially scheduled this event for September 2. However, the rains forced the festival-goers to cancel the event and postpone it to a new date, for which this Saturday, the 23rd, was finally chosen.
The Councilor for Fiestas, Mariló Cebreros, has invited citizens to collaborate with the Fiestas Committee and she has once again encouraged collaborating people and companies to go to l'Hort de Colón during this festive day. to give their donation in one euro coins. In addition, she recalled that, as is usual, the queens of the Festes Majors Patronals, Angélica Morenilla Such and Daniela Talavera Ventura, will tour the establishments in the commercial areas with their Dames to collect donations. Cebreros has indicated that "in addition to collaborating by making this donation in the form of euro coins, those who wish can also go to the bar that the Commission will install and have a sandwich or a soft drink."
For his part, the president of the 2023 Fiestas Committee, Vicente Solaz, has requested the selfless help of neighbors and tourists to “join in favor of our local festivities.” He also recalled that “33 years have passed since a group of members of the Fiestas Commission, in 1990, came up with the idea of organizing “The 20 Duros Marathon,” as this event was initially called.
Finally, the Fiesta leader has stated that, in addition to collaborating in person, another way to participate with the mayorals in this fundraising is the now famous “#UnMetrePerLaFesta”. To do this, those interested can take a photograph with a meter of euros (which is 43 euro coins) and send the image and the money to the Commission's office, at Casa del Fester or deliver it on the same Saturday in person.
