Anyone who wishes can participate in this traditional initiative that serves to raise funds for the November celebrations
The Comissió de Festes Majors Patronals celebrates a new 'Euro Marathon'
This morning a new edition of the ‘Euro Marathon’ began, an activity organised by the Comissió de Festes Majors Patronals to raise funds for the upcoming November celebrations. The start was at ten in the morning on Tomás Ortuño Street, opposite l’Hort de Colón.
Valentina Almodóbar and Laia Zamora, the queens of the festivities, began this unique route that is formed by placing one after the other a euro coin. Each metre holds 45 coins and the aim is to go as far as possible.
The mayor of Benidorm, Toni Pérez, the councillor for Fiestas, Mariló Cebreros, and other members of the corporation have joined this initiative that, during the last few weeks, has been publicizing on social networks under the hashtag #unmetreperlafesta.
The senator from Benidorm, Agustín Almodóbar, and the regional deputies, José Ramón González de Zárate and Mario Villar, did not miss the start of the marathon, nor did the presidents of the Commission and the Association of Pensions ‘Verge del Sofratge’, María Dolores Cano and Jaume Cortés, who showed their commitment to the Festes Majors Patronals de Benidorm with their presence – and coins.
The race continues throughout the day and anyone who wishes can take part. To do so, all you have to do is go to Calle Tomás Ortuño and add to the queue.
