The Colla de Xirimiters de La Marina joins the Grup de Danses Bellaguarda to offer a concert in Benidorm
Tomorrow, Saturday, Colla de Xirimiters from La Marina will join the Grup de Danses Bellaguarda Tradicions from Altea to offer a joint concert, in which traditional Valencian dances and music will be the central part of the repertoire. The recital is part of the Intercanvis Musicals campaign sponsored by the Generalitat Valenciana and will take place at 6:30 p.m., at Plaza de Castellar, in the Castell de Benidorm, with free admission. Likewise, one day later, on Sunday the 15th, both musical groups will perform this same recital together again, this time at Plaza de l'Aigua in Altea, as explained by the Councilor for Culture, Jaime Jesús Pérez, who has invited residents to “participate and enjoy this very special concert.”
It will be divided into two parts: the first, by the Colla de Xirimiters, and the second, performed by the Grup de Danses, whom some members of the Colla will also musically accompany in their dances.
Thus in the first part, to the rhythm of dolçaina and tabalet, the piece 'A Miquel Grau' will sound, popularized by the group Al Tall, with an arrangement by Paco Bessó; ‘Arrancapins’, a 'pasodoble' by Antonio de la Asunción dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Arrancapins fault in València; 'Jaume Doménech', a 'pasodoble' by J. Agustín Arbona, which was one of the joint pieces that were performed at this year's Aplec de la Federació Valenciana de dolçainers i tabaleters; 'Torna la Festa', a Christian march by Callosa d'en Sarrià, which premiered after the pandemic and is based on the traditional 'L´Arrancà' tune by Callosa d'en Sarrià, which is the music that begins festivals of this town in the Marina Baixa; and 'Ventall Obert', rumba by Josep Basset. To end this first part, it will be played 'Al caure la mitjanit', the first movement of a suite dedicated to the magical night of San Juan, composed by Antoni de la Asunción.
In the second part, traditional dances will take the leading role led by the Grup Bellaguarda Tradicions, who will dance 'Arquets de Corpus', 'Jota de carrers' by Ibi; 'Bolero Pla' from Xàtiva; ‘Copeo d’Ontinyent’; 'Fandango d'Ayora'; ‘Jota de Relleu’ and, finally, ‘Danses de la Marina’, all with the musical accompaniment of the members of Colla de Xirimiters.
