Consistory and concessionaire will distribute 6,000 discount tickets among the associates of Aico and Abreca-Cobreca, which will be valid in Mercat, Tomás Ortuño and Ametlla del Mar
The City Council will 'reward' purchases in shops and hospitality with half an hour of free parking in three public car parks
This first phase of the campaign will last from June 7 to July 12
Benidorm City Council and the company Telpark, the concessionaire for the management of three public parking lots, are going to develop a campaign to encourage the use of these parking among the city's retail and hospitality users and, in turn, to encourage purchases in the local fabric. The councillors of Mobility and Commerce, Francis Muñoz and Javier Jordá, presented this campaign today together with the delegate of Telpark in the Levante area, Cristian Muñoz.
The initiative will take place between June 7 and July 12 and will consist of the distribution of 6,000 discount tickets among citizens who consume in bars, restaurants, cafes and shops in the areas surrounding these car parks. Specifically, those at Mercat Municipal, Tomás Ortuño and Ametlla del Mar. With them, users will get half an hour of free parking, as explained during the presentation.
Francis Muñoz has indicated that the objective of this campaign is to "complement the discounts already offered by the municipal car park of l'Aigüera, with one hour of free parking for every purchase of twenty euros" and has highlighted that, in this case, the discounts to be distributed will be divided by zones, with 2,000 tickets for the Mercat parking lot, 2,000 for the Tomás Ortuño parking lot and another 2,000 for the Ametlla del Mar parking lot.
The councillor of Mobility has indicated that between the three car parks, there are around 650 spaces and that the objective of this action is to “promote the rotation of vehicles among people who come to make their purchases or to consume in the hospitality industry, increase consumption in our establishments and also that the city is more alive.”
For his part, the Telpark delegate, Cristian Muñoz, has indicated that the concessionaire will distribute these discount tickets to Aico and Abreca-Cobreca in the coming days so that they, in turn, distribute them among the partners. The person in charge of the company has indicated that the associations will establish the criteria for the distribution of those tickets since a minimum consumption amount has not been stipulated from the start.
Likewise, Cristian Muñoz has highlighted that, since this company took over the management of the parking lots a few months ago, its objective was to “open lines of collaboration and integration” with the local fabric, as will happen with this campaign. “For now we are starting with this, but I am sure that it will not be the only collaboration we have because surely something else will emerge in the future,” added Muñoz.
Infrastructure improvements
The Telpark delegate thanked the City Council for its collaboration and indicated that, currently, the company is carrying out different investments to update and improve the Mercat Municipal, Tomás Ortuño and Ametlla del Mar car parks. Among these actions that Muñoz has cited are the painting of parking lots, the renewal of equipment, the digitalization of processes and products, as well as the installation of electric charging points. Specifically, in Benidorm, they plan to install between ten and fifteen points to improve the service and promote the use of less polluting vehicles.
