The City Council of Benidorm plans to continue improving the facilities of Óscar Esplá auditorium of l'Aigüera Park, after having replaced the pavement of the central part in 2017. Specifically, the auditorium will be equipped with changing rooms and new public toilets, as reported today by the councilors of Works, Culture and Events, José Ramón González de Zárate, Ana Pellicer and Jesús Carrobles. Public toilets that will also give service to the events that take place at Plaza de SSMM Reyes de España.
De Zárate has indicated that the works will begin after the celebration of the Major Patron Festivities and once the annual season of performances and events in this venue.
The mayor stressed that with these works "we try to meet two basic objectives." First, carry out one of the measures included in the budget agreement reached with the municipal group Ciudadanos (Cs) that requested that Óscar Esplá auditorium be equipped with changing rooms, since currently "when there are performances, the artists do not have access to a closed space and enabled to change. "
This action will be carried out by a company and contemplates the creation of a cabin for men and another for women, fully prepared as dressing rooms and that will be complemented by the current bathrooms of the auditorium, located in the back of the stage of the auditorium.
De Zárate indicated that "taking advantage of this work will be performed in the auditorium" has been considered appropriate to make another action related to public toilets in this venue and at Plaza de SSMM Reyes de España. The councilor explained that "currently when there is a performance at Óscar Esplá, the public cannot use the restrooms of the auditorium to avoid hindering the assembly and development of the activity", while "when the event is held at Plaza SSMM Reyes de España it is necessary to install ecological toilets, which sometimes give problems ".
Hence, it has been decided to convert part of one of the stores of the auditorium into new public toilets. Thus, it is planned to create a Women toilet and for people with reduced mobility -which will have four toilets- and another for gentlemen, whose entrance will be located in the corridor that connects the auditorium and Plaza SSMM Reyes de España, in such a way that can be used during events. This work will be carried out by the municipal technical services.
