Those communities that, due to repair or breakdown, have to empty their pools or reservoirs can report it to Street Cleaning or FCC
The City Council initiates a neighborhood flushing plan with reused water from private pools
This water collection service is free
Benidorm City Council, through the concessionaire company for Road Cleaning –Fomento de Construcciones y Contratas (FCC) -, has launched a street flushing campaign using "reused water from private swimming pools". This has been reported today by the Councilor for Road Cleaning and the Water Cycle, José Ramón González de Zárate, who has advanced that “this flushing campaign, which affects public roads, setbacks, children's play areas and outdoors fitness parks for the elderly, has begun in the Foietes neighborhood and Alfredo Corral area ”, although it will progressively spread to the rest of the city and“ will be continuous until the end of the year ”.
This flushing device is made up of a sweeper, two hydros and a tank.
De Zárate recalled that "for 15 years, Benidorm has provided this free service to take advantage of the water in private properties that for reasons of repair, breakdown or maintenance have to empty their pools or reservoirs".
To have this service, "the communities can contact the Department of Street Cleaning on the phone 966815566 or with the concessionaire itself at 965855184 to make an appointment and that FCC staff proceed to empty the pool or cistern" .
This water is captured through tank trucks and later reused for flushing. This same operation was already carried out last August when the water from the two pools of Palau d'Esports l'Illa was emptied and reused, adding both pools more than 400,000 liters.
The councillor has underlined that "apart from the point of water coming from the municipal swimming pool or from swimming pools and private cisterns, and within our strategy of optimizing water resources as much as possible, we are going to complete this flushing operation with the reused water available in the purified water hydrants that are installed in the municipal area, the same that we use throughout the year to clean public roads and to irrigate gardens ”.
