The City Council approves the second round of aid for new businesses and the self-employed, amounting to €13,600

El Ayuntamiento aprueba la segunda remesa de ayudas a nuevas empresas y autónomos por importe de 13.600 euros

Hospitality establishments and small supermarkets, the most common activities

Yesterday, the Local Government Board (JGL) of Benidorm City Council approved the second round of municipal aid to support the creation of new businesses and entrepreneurial projects, amounting to €13,600, which will benefit 16 self-employed workers. The Councillor for Employment and Local Promotion, Mónica Gómez, explained that "these grants are one of the initiatives to support entrepreneurs that the City Council promotes annually to encourage employment and self-employment," providing beneficiaries with between €700 and €1,000 to help them start their business.

Mónica Gómez recalled that "in addition to promoting the creation of new jobs, the objective of these grants is to boost economic development, convinced that employment is the best social policy." He also noted that this aid is aimed at entrepreneurs who have established themselves as self-employed individuals with a tax domicile in Benidorm and are registered in the city in the last year, or at individuals who are not registered but have registered as self-employed individuals with a tax domicile in the town and have applied for an opening license with Benidorm City Council between October 1, 2024, and September 30, 2025, and who have also started their economic activity between these dates.

Regarding the business projects included in this second batch for 2025, the local councilor explained that "ten of the 16 are related to the hospitality and food industries, with small commercial spaces," in addition to "beauty, construction, transportation, and healthcare services." "This variety of activities," she elaborated, "reflects the dynamism and constant evolution of Benidorm's business community." Regarding the profile of the entrepreneurs, the councilor noted that half of them are between 30 and 45 years old.

Gómez encouraged "people who are considering starting a business in our city to contact the Employment and Local Development Agency, where we offer an advisory service to provide information on the steps to follow and resolve any questions that may arise during the process, in addition to processing access to the municipal aid available to them."

In the two grants approved so far this year by the City Council, 27,600 euros have been awarded to a total of 30 entrepreneurs, while last year, a total of 63 entrepreneurial projects received this municipal aid for the creation of new businesses, reaching a total of 52,500 euros.

The grants can be applied for until December 31st of this year through the e-office (https://sede.benidorm.org),

Interested parties must also attach all required documentation, including the terms and conditions of the call for applications.

To be eligible for this aid, interested parties must register or have registered as self-employed, with a tax domicile in Benidorm, between October 1, 2024, and September 30, 2025, and have started their economic activity between those dates. They must also be registered in the census of taxpayers and the Special Regime for Self-Employed Workers before applying, but they must not have been registered in the three months prior to starting the activity. They must also not have been beneficiaries of this aid in either of the previous two years and must be registered in Benidorm or apply for a license to open a business in a business located in the city. They must also be up to date with their tax and social security obligations and have no outstanding debts with Benidorm City Council.

Regarding the amount of aid, it ranges from 700 to 1,000 euros. The first will be awarded to entrepreneurs who establish themselves as self-employed individuals with a tax domicile in Benidorm and are registered in the city. Entrepreneurs who are not registered in Benidorm but establish themselves as self-employed individuals with a tax domicile in the city and who apply for an opening license at Benidorm City Hall will also be eligible for this 700-euro grant.

Regarding the €1,000 grants, these will be awarded to professionals who register as self-employed workers with a tax domicile in Benidorm, who are registered in the city, and who apply for an opening permit with Benidorm City Council, as stipulated in the terms and conditions.

A technical committee is periodically responsible for evaluating applications and proposing the approval or denial of the grants, as well as allocating the subsidised amounts.
