More than 273 students will study at municipal facilities during this school year
Benidorm begins the 2025-2026 academic year at its municipal music and dance conservatories

The Conservatory of Music offers 16 musical specialities and will train 134 students in professional education
Benidorm Municipal Conservatories of Music and Dance have begun academic activities for the 2025-2026 academic year with 273 students enrolled in their various programs, both elementary and professional, representing a combined increase of 5.4%.
The Councillor for Education, Maite Moreno, visited the facilities yesterday afternoon to personally greet the teachers and students and wish them a school year full of opportunities and achievements.
During the tour, Moreno was accompanied by Raúl Mahiques, the acting director of the José Pérez Barceló Municipal Professional Music Conservatory, who showed her the different classrooms and explained how the centre works. This academic year, 134 students enrolled in vocational training courses across 16 specialities—including flute, oboe, bassoon, clarinet, saxophone, French horn, trumpet, trombone, tuba, tenor tuba, percussion, piano, guitar, violin, viola, and cello—in addition to another 65 students in the Elementary Level.
The councillor emphasised that José Pérez Barceló Conservatory offers "the possibility of studying the four years of the Elementary Level and the six years of the Professional Level." "A student who begins at eight years old can complete their training at 18 with a teaching certificate, thus paving the way for their future career," she stated. Moreno also emphasised that it is a fully municipal school "with highly qualified faculty that attracts students from Benidorm and numerous surrounding towns."
Regarding the Municipal Elementary Dance Conservatory, directed by María Jesús Francés, the Education Minister stated that it "provides official Elementary Dance instruction," but also offers "unofficial introductory and preparatory programs for children between 6 and 7 years old, as well as an Intermediate Dance program for those over 12."
For this academic year, 74 students have enrolled in the Dance Conservatory: 48 in the official Elementary Dance program; 14 in unofficial courses for ages 6 to 8; and 12 in the unofficial Intermediate Dance program for those over 12. Enrollment for non-professional programs is still open.
In conclusion, Maite Moreno emphasised "the pride" Benidorm feels in having conservatories "of this calibre" and announced that the City Council "will maintain its commitment to continue consolidating them as a benchmark for local educational offerings."
