The City Council is looking for new locations to implement these benches and bring art to other neighborhoods in the city

A book-shaped bench on Paseo de Colón joins the efforts to promote Benidorm's 700th anniversary

Un banco con forma de libro en el Paseo de Colón se une a los elementos para difundir el 700 Aniversario de Benidorm

Benidorm City Council, through the Department of Historical and Cultural Heritage, has added a new element to promote the commemoration of the 700th anniversary of the municipality's founding. In this case, it features a bench in the shape of an open book featuring the official logo of this anniversary on a reproduction of the text of the Carta de Poblament signed by Admiral Bernat de Sarrià on May 8, 1325. It has been placed at the end of Paseo de Colón, in the square that pays tribute to sailors and tuna fishermen.

The Councilor for Historical and Cultural Heritage, Ana Pellicer, stated that "we continue to incorporate artistic and charming elements into our urban fabric, and in this case, we are doing so to increase awareness of Benidorm's '700 Years' among the hundreds of people, residents, and tourists who pass through this busy space every day to use the Port, the Yacht Club, or Mal Pas beach."

The bench is made of concrete and vinyl, so it also offers the possibility of changing its theme once the commemoration of this anniversary is over, to promote and publicise other events or dates of special interest, explained Ana Pellicer. In this regard, the Councillor stated that, in addition to new themes, "at the City Council, we are also studying new locations for implementing these benches in other neighbourhoods of the city in the coming years, to bring urban art and culture to as many spaces as possible."
