The mayor and the manager of the Fundación Visit Benidorm attend the awards ceremony awarded by the Campus of Tourism of the University of Barcelona
Benidorm has obtained the Alimara Prize for the use of the new technologies that Fundación Visit Benidorm has done in the promotion of the city and in the management of its tourist resources, according to the verdict of the jury of the Campus CETT of the University of Barcelona that each Year awards these awards to distinguish individuals, companies or institutions whose work has stood out in favor of the tourism sector, hospitality or gastronomy.
The mayor, Toni Pérez, collected the award this afternoon at a gala held in Barcelona and it was his turn to speak on behalf of all the winners, thanking the award and stressing that "they are the result of a team work and a Spur to continue advancing in the path of excellence, the only possible direction in an increasingly globalized and competitive world.
Benidorm was nominated through Fundación Visit Benidorm, in the category of 'Use of ICT in Promotion', by implanting technology 'beacons' in different parts of the municipality as a direct tool for promotion and communication with the user. The use of this technology is linked to the 'app' of Visit Benidorm, and started to work last year.
The mayor, moved to Barcelona to collect the prize with the Foundation manager, Leire Bilbao, expressed his satisfaction for the award of a prize that "represents the recognition of a collective work and evidence that those who understand innovation consider that we are Doing things right, and reaffirming us that the determined commitment of the public and private sector to make Benidorm an intelligent tourist destination is right, convenient and on the right track. Toni Pérez highlighted that with the latest actions carried out, "Benidorm is being a national and international reference in the use of new technologies applied to tourism, as in the day we were pioneers in betting on this industry, vital for the Spanish economy ".
